The wines of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace are certainly among the things that contribute to its reputation, both inside and outside Greece.

Ancient Greek myths related to the god Dionysus, stories from the Iliad and the Odyssey, as well as archaeological sites and findings testify to the strong association of the region with wine since ancient times.

Dionysian events that survive to this day, modern wine festivals, as well as wineries on the so-called “Wine Route of Dionysus” that are open to visitors, all make up an incredible wealth in terms of both images and tastes!

Points of interest along the route ‘Thrace of Dionysus and wine’ in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace are related to the god Dionysus, the priest Maron with his famous wine, the Thracian tribe of the Cicones, as well as modern life and production, inspired by relevant myths.
