In the location of Mandal Panagia, 2 km north of the settlement of Prophet Elias, there was an open-air sanctuary that scholars believed was dedicated to the "Great Mother". Sherds that have been found there mention both the Thracian and the Greek name of the goddess Artemis and thanks to them the identification with the chthonian local deity of Thrace, Vendida is made. Offerings dating from the 8th century BC until the 2nd century AD have been discovered there. These include clothing buckles, figurines of female figures, jewelry and vases. In the area there are traces of temples of the early Christian and mid-Byzantine era, as well as another undated building.
