A Roman craft in Potamoi Drama
On the hill located in Potamoi, on the site "Kavakia" ruins dating to the Late Roman period (3rd century AD) were discovered.
The site was in use during the Early Byzantine period (4th century AD). It is a farmhouse with main and auxiliary spaces for agricultural work, processing (millstones for grinding cereals) and storage of agricultural products (remnants of clay jars). The number and size of the above objects in combination with the existence of two kilns and two semicircular hearths prove that there was mass processing and production, a kind of craft activity in the area. Among the finds are useful objects and coins.
