A miniature from a medieval illustrated manuscript depicts Orestes preparing to assassinate his mother, Klytaimnestra. The murder occurs outside Agamemnon's palace in Mycenae.

In terms of morphology, clothing and scenography, the miniature refers to the southern Netherlands in the 15th century.
