On a silver kantharos, from which the handles and the foot have not preserved, Orestes, his sister Iphigenia, and his friend Pylades are depicted at the ancient city of Sminthe, near Troy. The scene was probably inspired by Sophocles' now-lost tragedy "Chrysis" and contained an episode that took place with Apollo's priest Chrysis after their escape from the Taurian land. Besides, the other represented figures on the kantharos refer to the theater world.
