The scene depicted is the meeting of Orestes and Elektra at the tomb of their murdered father, Agamemnon. Seated on the stepped base of the grave (a stele with a palmette finial) is Elektra, who mourns, supporting her head in her left hand. She wears a multi-folded transparent chiton and a himation that hangs from her head. There is a hydria (water jar) in front of her. Two of her servants are behind her. One bends towards her and the other brings a tray with offerings and a hydria. Orestes steps on the stele base and extends his right hand toward Elektra. He wears a himation, a conical pilos (cap), and holds the traveler’s stick in his left hand. Behind him, and alongside the horse, stand his friend Pylades and a youthful servant.
