On both sides of the kylix (wine-cup), the Thracian musician and poet Mousaios is depicted sitting on a rock and playing his lyre. He wears a laurel wreath and himitation covering the lower part of his body. He is accompanied by two Muses to his right and his left. On the one side of the vase, one of the Muses holds an open eilitarion (papyrus scrolled around an wooden cylindrical stick) and the other a small box. On the other side, there is a Muse holding a lyre, while another one holds two flutes. Some scholars do not identify the figure with Mousaios, but with Apollo.
