On the main side of the krater the divine marriage of Dionysus with Ariadne is depicted. Dionysus stands in the center, turned towards Ariadne. He holds a thyrsus (stick that ends in a pinecone with ivy and vine leaves) in his left hand, his himation falls backwards leaving his body naked and wears a taenia (headband). Ariadne is sitting next to him, staring at him. They are flanked by two Satyrs. On the other side, the god Dionysus is depicted again holding a thyrsus. He is accompanied by a winged Erotideus playing a tympanum (drum) and two Satyrs, each of them holding a thyrsus.
The vase was a grave good (object accompanying the deceased) found in a cist grave.
