Town of Evros, near the River Evros. It is the northern town of Greece. It is named after the warlike people of Vysses. In 1920, the town got its current name.
There is a folklore museum in the town. The patron saint of Nea Vyssa is Saint Georgios. The Monastery of Agia Skepi and Agia Paraskevi is located three kilometers away from the town.
Nea Vyssa is the origin of the reknowned mathematician Konstantinos Karatheodori.
