Marble bust of Dionysus. The god is depicted in adulthood, has long hair and a beard. He wears a dora (skin when taken off) tied to his left shoulder covering his right chest. He wears a band on his head and a rich knitted wreath of ivy and vine branches. Two vine leaves fall on the sides, one on each side. Each covers the greater part of a bunch of grapes.
It is probably a cult statue, which proves that the worship of Dionysus was widely spread in the region of Drama. Being dated to the 2nd century AD, it could be associated with the cult of the Roman god Liber Pater, the patron god of viticulture, wine, fertility, and freedom.
