Dionysus, Satyr and Maenad

The relief is decorated with Dionysus and two members of the Dionysian thiasos (Dionysos' companions), a Maenad and a Satyr. To the right, the god Dionysus stands naked, wearing an ivy wreath. He holds his himation in his left hand and a kantharos in his right, the content of which, probably wine, is emptied into the ground. A Satyr supports the drunken Dionysus. He is naked, wears only the nebrida (young deer skin), and holds an overturned torch in his left hand. To the left, a Maenad stands facing Dionysus. She wears a chiton and a himation, and she holds a thyrsos (stick that ends in a pinecone with ivy and vine leaves) in her right hand. There are two panthers between the Maenad and Dionysus.
