The lesser kestrel (lat. Falco naumanni) is a small bird of prey, a type of falcon. Αs the name implies, it is a smaller and more delicate species compared to the common kestrel. It is widespread and plentiful on a global scale. Meadows, land lands, as well as hills with sparse vegetation, are typical habitats of the species.
The lesser kestrel is a migratory species; in Greece, it migrates from Africa after traveling thousands of kilometers in droves. It arrives in early spring, and it nests near houses and warehouses in the Greek countryside. It breeds in colonies, while it searches for its prey in the neighboring fields.
