Τώρα ας μου εξυψώνουν τον Τυδείδη τα τραγούδια των ποιητών, που εμπιστεύτηκε τον σύντροφό του από την Ιθάκη και με τον δρόμο ανοικτό από τις πληροφορίες του Δόλωνα, όταν όλοι ήταν αποχαυνωμένοι από το φαγητό μαζί και τον ύπνο, μπήκε στο θρακικό στρατόπεδο του κοιμισμένου Ρήσου και έφερε πίσω στις ελληνικές σκηνές αιχμάλωτα τα άλογα, των οποίων, αν μπορούμε να πιστεύουμε καθόλου στις γενναιόδωρες Μούσες, το σφρίγος ξεπερνούσε τους ζέφυρους και η λάμψη την πάχνη.
