Thebaid 7.64-67

Original

quaerere templorum regem vix coeperat ales
Maenalius, tremit ecce solum et mugire refractis
corniger Hebrus aquis; tunc quod pecus utile bello
vallem infestabat, trepidas spumare per herbas.

Translation in English

Scarce had the winged Maenalian begun to seek the temple's lord — lo! earth trembles, and horned Hebrus bellows and stays his torrent's flow; then all the war-steeds that troubled the valley sped foaming o'er the frightened meads, sure sign of his approach, and the gates barred with everlasting adamant flew open.
