Aggitis

The Aggitis, also known as Angista is a river in Thrace and an important tributary of Strymonas. It is 75 kilometers long. Its sources, located near the village of Aggitis in the regional unit or Drama, form the Aggitis Cave (Maaras). The river flows through the regional units of Drama and Serres, as well as the gorge of the Aggitis.

The Aggitis is mentioned by Herodotus (5th century B.C.) and later by Appianus (1st century).
