Roman propylon of Maroneia

Roman propylon in Agios Charalambos of Maroneia

Near the port of Agios Charalambos, below the level of the road, there is a monumental Roman propylon.

It was constructed from local marble in 124-125 AD, donated by the Emperor Hadrian during his visit to the city. The propylon was the main entrance to the Roman Forum of Maroneia.
