Tobacco warehouses of Xanthi

In the heart of the tobacco trade of Xanthi

The tobacco warehouses, brilliant examples of industrial architecture, are remarkable sights of Xanthi. Most of them are preserved in good condition. They were built in the late 19th and early 20th century in the area where the city's plain was then located. Located at near the commercial, road and railway arteries.

Where the heart of the economy once beat, today culture flourishes as some of them have been converted into event halls and cultural institutions. The tobacco warehouse of the Philoproodos Union of Xanthi (F.E.X.), on Platonos Street, the Tobacco Warehouse on 12 Apostoloi Street and the Tobacco Warehouse "P" (or tobacco warehouse of the Ottoman Monopoly "Régie") on Kapnergaton Street, which houses the Foundation of Thracian Art and Tradition, are some of them.
