Kourabiedes

A festive cookie packed with aromas

Kourabiedes (plural of the noun kourabies) is a type of cookie packed with the aromas of roasted almonds, fresh butter, and rosewater; it is garnished with luscious layers of icing sugar. They are popular throughout Greece as a traditional Christmas delicacy; however, the well-known kourabiedes of Nea Karvali are made from fresh cow and goat butter, as well as whole roasted almonds, and are shaped into crescents. Visitors can find them all year round.
