A Macedonian tomb in Elafochori
On the road Didymoteicho - Ladis, in the settlement of Dafni, near Elafochori, there is an underground tomb of Macedonian type. It dates to the end of the 4th - beginning of the 3rd century BC. In the tomb some morphological peculiarities compared to the Macedonian ones can be seen. The tomb is composed by dromos, which is a narrow built passage, the “vestibule” and the main funeral chamber, where the box-shaped bed is located. On the floor of the chamber there was a box-shaped tomb. Unfortunately, the grave has been looted.
The visit to the monument should be preceded by contact with the Ephorate of Antiquities. Access for the disabled is difficult.
