Prokne and Philomela preparing to kill the Itys 

In the kylix’s tondo Philomela is depicted to the left and Prokne with Itys to the right. Prokne grips her son. Philomela speaks to her with gestures, her tongue is cut off, trying to explain to her sister what happened before. She is belted with the sword, with which they will kill Itys a little later.
