The fir (lat. Abies borisii-regis), also known as Bulgarian fir, is a large, evergreen coniferous tree with a tall and straight trunk. It is native to the Balkan Peninsula, in northern Greece, Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Serbia, and Albania. It occurs at altitudes of 800–1800 meters.
Its wood is very hard and is good for furniture, residential, commercial, and other construction projects as well as for shipbuilding.
