Village of the regional unit of Drama, on the border with the regional unit of Xanthi. It is built on the banks of the Nestos, and its name means "middle village".

Refugees settled here after the population exchange between Greece and Turkey in 1922. The old Primary school of the village hosts the Management of the National Park of Rodopi.
