In the center of hydria's shoulder and part of its body, the Thracian king Lycurgus eats a limb which with his right he has torn from the corpse of a boy which he holds on left arm. He wears chiton, a Thracian dress called zeira and a fox fur cap, alopekis. On right a man, also in Thracian dress, flees rapidly away to right, holding a stick and looking back. On left Dionysos looks on with left hand raised, as if in surprise, and he holds thyrsus in his right. He is wreathed with ivy and wears a long chiton.
