Thousands of years of glorious history
The Archaeological Museum of Kavala houses the collections of prehistoric finds from the Neolithic settlement Dikili Tas, the oldest evidence of winemaking in Europe, and the findings from the excavations of Neapolis-Christoupolis-Kavala. Many of the exhibits come from the sanctuary of the goddess Parthenos, patron saint of Neapolis. This building is an Ionic temple, built in the 5th c. BC of Thassos marble.
