Kadaifi: golden, crispy, and amazingly sweet!
Kadaifi - also known as kataifi - is a traditional, syrupy dessert. Originally from Asia Minor, kadaifi is especially popular in countries such as Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Lebanon, and other Eastern Mediterranean countries that were once under the Ottoman Empire. It is made with kadaifi pastry, this special type of pastry which is like angel's hair pasta. The typical version of filling consists of a mixture of almonds and walnuts along with honey or sugar syrup scented with cinnamon and optionally with orange or lemon peels. The wider area is famous for its pastries and syrupy sweets - among which kadaifi.
