The Alonoudia Wildlife Sanctuary is located on the western side of Samothraki, to the south of the settlement of Alonia.

It is a mixed area consisting of hills, lagoons, marshes, sparse scrub vegetation and agricultural land. Alonoudia are distinguished for their natural beauty. The sanctuary offers bird watching in an area of 5,000 acres.

The Alonoudia area is officially protected as a wildlife sanctuary. Other species observed in the area are the water snake and the ground toad.

The Alonoudia Wildlife sanctuary spans over 5,000 acres and is suitable for bird watching. The bird fauna of the area mainly includes the species of sea crow.
