Fonias is the most popular gorge in Samothrace but also one of the most beautiful in Greece. The entrance to the gorge is at Klidi, at an altitude of about 700 meters; hiking down the gorge ends near Fonias Tower by the sea. Fonias gorge is known for its impressive waterfalls and small natural pools, the so-called pedestals.
