The Alexandroupolis Customs House is housed in one of the warehouses located in the city's port and built in 1870 by the Eastern Railway Company.

These buildings served the transport of goods from the railway to the port and vice versa. In 1915 the warehouse buildings were destroyed by bombing, while seven of them were reconstructed around 1930. Three of the warehouses of the Port of Alexandroupolis have been designated listed buildings.
