The Medieval bridge on the Kompsatos
A stone Byzantine bridge is preserved between the settlements of Iasmos and Polyanthos. It is attributed to craftsmen from Epirus and dates back to the 15th century. The bridge is oriented West-East. Initially it had three arches but today only the eastern and middle arches that were the highest are still standing. The surviving arches have an opening of 21.80 m. and a height of 17 m., respectively, while the height of the middle one is 12 m. The pillars of the bridge bear relieving openings.
The bridge was built at a strategic point as ancient ruins have been found in the area and the Byzantine castle of Polyanthos is also further to the North.
