Fresco from the atrium of the House of Orpheus at Pompeii. Orpheus is seated within a landscape with rocks and a lake. He is wearing a phrygian cap, he is naked, with only a red cloak (himation) and he is playing lyra. His music is taming the wild animals around him (lion, leopards, deer, hare, wild boars, elephant, birds, aquatic birds).
