Seker pare

Piece of sugar: the sweet with oriental roots

Seker pare - also known as sekerpare - is a traditional syrupy cake pan with Turkish origins that looks like a small cookie. In Turkish, the word Şekerpare means "piece of sugar". Essentially, it is a type of pastry made from pure butter, semolina, flour, eggs, sugar, citrus zest; it is garnished with either almond or hazelnut on top and finally dipped in thick lemon-flavored syrup.

Along with other syrupy delicacies, this little treat is a sweet specialty of the confectioneries of the area.
