Ladoxera
Island

Zourafa

Zourafa - also known as Ladoxera - is a rocky islet of the Aegean Sea located east of Samothrace and north of Imvros islands, six nautical miles away from Samothrace. It is the northeasternmost point of the Greek territory. Administratively, it is part of the regional unit of Evros and is uninhabited.

Many significant archeological findings, such as marble columns, capitals, remnants of ancient dwellings, etc., witness human activity on the islet. However, over the last forty years, the islet is threatened by a dramatic reduction of its size due to the phenomenon of erosion by the sea. The phenomenon might even cause the complete extinction of the islet along with the archeological findings.
