Manti is a traditional dish of Samothrace. It consists of small pouches of pastry stuffed with roasted minced pork, herbs, and rice, baked in the oven, and dipped in broth from goat’s meat. It is typically served on a platter with some of the broth and accompanied by meat and yogurt with garlic.
Originating from Cappadocia and the Byzantine tradition, manti comes in many local variations (Pontian, Asia Minor, Armenian). It is usually cooked before the New Year.
