Atzele baklava: traditional, delicious, yet easy
Atzele baklava is a traditional syrupy ('siropiasto') dessert. It is the easy version of baklava. Unlike the original one which is made of phyllo (also known as filo) pastry, that is, pastry in thin sheets, this type of baklava uses a dough with eggs, milk, and butter instead. The dough is flavored with cinnamon and lemon and it is filled with nuts, finely chopped as in the classic baklava. The dessert is baked in the oven and then garnished with syrup.
