Praousti is a traditional spoon sweet made from the fruit praousti, that is,  a species between a wild plum and a cherry plum, that grows on trees on the island of Samothrace. Like other spoon sweets, praousti is a sweet preserve that was traditionally served in a spoon as a gesture of hospitality.
