Nymphs finding the head of Orpheus

In this Waterhouse oil painting, two Nymphs are depicted finding the head of the Thracian musician Orpheus in the waters of a spring. The Nymphs had gathered there to obtain water. In her right hand, one of them is holding a metal hydria. They turn their heads in the direction of the head and lyre of Orpheus, terrified and lost.
