The following religious tradition refers to the case of a novel Saint. It is related to his revelation to the inhabitants of the village of Drymia, in the mountainous Xanthi, as well as to his establishment in the religious consciousness of the local community. According to tradition, the refugees who settled in the village, with the population exchange of 1923, dug into the ruins of an abandoned house, after a vision of a resident. There they found human remains and a small metal cross with representations of Saints and with the inscription «ΓΕΩΡΓΙΟΣ ΝΩΕ» ή «ΓΕΟΡΓΗΟC» (George in Greek).
The discovery of the relics, through a metaphysical vision, formed in the villagers’ consciousness the belief of the revelation of a new Saint, who took his name from the inscription engraved on the cross. Similar traditions are also recorded in relation to the construction of the church, which took place after similar visionary appearances of the Saint to specific village residents. Through these apparitions he suggested to the inhabitants the construction of the church in a certain part of the village, as well as the opening of the road, in order to make it easier for the faithful to reach it. Finally, similar traditions are associated with the miraculous action developed by the Saint.
