Mountain range in the southeastern Thrace, very close to the city of Alexandroupolis. According to the myth, Orpheus used to find shelter in the woods of the mountain to play his lyre. The area defined by Zonaia mountains to the north, Ismaros mountain to the west and the river Evros to the east, is believed to be the ancient land of the Cicones. From the north, the mountain overlooks the ruins of ancient settlements that were founded in the late 7th c. BC by settlers from Samothrace in the coast just opposite the island.
