Jewish Holocaust Memorial in Komotini

The monument is located in the Grove of Agia Paraskevi. It was built to commemorate the approximately 1350 Jews of Komotini, victims of the holocaust of the Second World War.  On 4 March 1943, the Jews were rounded up by the Bulgarian occupation forces and transported via Lom in Bulgaria to Treblinka, Poland, where they met a tragic death in the Nazi crematoria.
