Tourist settlement of the prefecture of Evros. Most of the inhabitants work in agriculture and tourism.
The area has been inhabited since the ancient years. It has kept its traditional character. Sights include the prehistoric mound, the cave of Cyclops with remnants of a Neolithic settlement, the hill of Prophet Elias, the 19th century church of Agia Anastasia and the Ottoman baths.
