On the obverse of a gold decadrachm dated to the time of the Syracusan tyrant Hiketas (288-279 B.C.), the head of Persephone is depicted. She wears a grain wreath, earrings and a necklace. Behind her, there is a cornucopia and isncribed the ethnic name Συρακοσίων (of the Syracusii).
