The church of Agia Anastasia must have been built in 1100 and many years later, in 1833, it was renovated or new parts were added. These dates are mentioned on the inscription at the entrance to the church. In its present form it is a three-aisled basilica. Marble architectural parts found near the church belong to an ancient sanctuary and an Early Christian church.
The church is of interest for the relics of the five neomartyrs of Samothrace, a baptismal font of 1820, and an icon of Mary found in the sea by fishermen. The carved wooden iconostasis with Byzantine-style icons belonging to various periods. The Ecclesiastical Museum of Alexandroupolis exhibits some icons from this church.
