The historic church inside the fortress, on the east side, features four aisles with a narthex and a wooden roof. According to an inscription inside the church, it was built in 1800 on the foundations of a Byzantine church, lower than ground level, because, in the Ottoman era, buildings should be constructed lower than mosques.
Objects of interest are the icon of Mary (dated between the 15th-16th century), the wood-carved iconostasis with decoration and icons (1741), as well as the despotic throne and the pulpit of the early 19th century. The church has been restored and has been listed as a protected monument.
It celebrates on the 15th of August. On the eve of the feast, the procession of the icon of Mary takes place.
