A custom that is revived every year, on the eve of the Feast of Lights, in the square of Nea Karvali.
According to the custom, the followers all sing together the carols of the Epiphany in the central part of the settlement, in front of the building of the old headquarters. Then, they light a great fire and holding hands, they dance and sing around the fire to chase away the evil spirits, the goblins in the bowels of the earth.
The custom comes from Gelveri of Cappadocia (Old Karvali) and has as its main purpose the Good Year. This is emphasized with fire, wishes, dances and songs. It has been listed in the National Repository of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Greece.
