A custom in which, a week before Clean Monday (first day of Lent), a young man from Kalambaki dresses up as "kalogeros" (monk) wearing sheepskin and bells. Together with another boy dressed as a gypsy woman and with the rest of the boys of the settlement, they go round the vollage making as much noise as they can by shouting, shaking bells and playing bagpipes. The people try to drive them away by giving them money, sweets or gifts.
Another carnival custom, which has its roots in the ancient worship of Dionysus.
