Sights include the traditional settlement of Akontisma, the Folklore Museum, the church of Saint Gregory the Theologian, the center for Cappadocian Studies and the Historical and Ethnological Museum of Greek Cappadocian Culture. On the eve of the Epiphany (5 January), the Cappadocian custom Saya is revived at the square of Nea Karvali. The village is also famous for its kourabiedes, a traditional Greek Christmas sweet.
