Rock engravings of Roussa
Near the settlement of Roussa, engraved rock paintings have been discovered. They depict figures of men and women, reptiles, birds and other symbols, perhaps of the sun and moon. They were probably designed to avert evil and they date back to the early Iron Age (9th-8th century BC) or even earlier (1100-900 BC). Scholars connect the rock paintings with the cult of Orpheus in the area.
