The precious asset of Thassos
The Museum of Olive and Olive Oil presents all the stages and processes of oil production. Objects and tools related to the pressing and processing of the fruit and the displays in the information room will take you on a journey through the blessed world of the olive tree. The presentation of various varieties of olive trees on the museum's estate and the possibility of observing production at the neighboring olive mill complete the introduction to this precious fruit.
In a specially designed area, various objects of popular culture from the collection of Sotiria Tyrologos are exhibited, such as handicrafts, textiles and clothing.
Large pithoi and ruins of an ancient storage area were discovered outside. The excavation is ongoing and may bring to light the remaining parts of an ancient olive mill, testifying to the perpetual use of the site in olive oil production. In the museum there is a shop selling olive products.
