An event that takes place in Pyrgoi, Drama on 6 January (Epiphany). It lasts for three days and every person in the village participates. The men disguise themselves as "Arkoudes" (Bears) who wear full-length sheepskin coats and have bells around their waists.
Then, they visit the houses of the village, collecting money as well as eggs, butter, cheese, flour with which the women prepare pies and sweets. After that, they gather in the central square where they dance and party all night long, to the sounds of the bagpipes, the Macedonian lyre and the dachare. The vigil is called "davanishka".
