Folklore Museum of the Cappadocian Community of Evros

Memories of Cappadocia in Alexandroupolis

The Museum of the Cappadocian Community of Evros has been operating since 2008, preserving objects from Cappadocia. Most of the exhibits were brought by the refugees and donated by them or collected by the Cappadocian Association of Evros "The Three Hierarchs".

In the museum's premises, corners of a typical Cappadocian home are revived. Furniture, traditional clothing, jewelry, heirlooms, tools, textiles and other handicrafts enrich the collection. Ecclesiastical objects and icons represent a Cappadocian chapel. Of particular value are the books in the Karamanlidic script, the Turkish dialect with Greek characters.

In 1997, the museum made the list of the top five thematic museums in Europe.
